John,
With so much happening this week to advance the America First agenda, I wanted
to take a moment to update you on the important work we have been doing.
As a member of the House Ways and Means Committee, it was a marathon session
Wednesday night to deliver our portion of reconciliation. I’m proud to be part
of the push for real economic relief through the “One, Big, Beautiful Bill.”
Our tax plan is designed to cut red tape, lower taxes, support our agricultural
communities, and create pro-growth conditions for our economy. It doubles the
child tax credit, raises the estate tax exemption, extends President Trump’s
tax cuts, repeals and phases out every absurd Green New Deal subsidy in the
Democrats’ Inflation Reduction Act—which will save taxpayers more than $500
billion and stop the money flow to China.
Our plan is also a game-changer for America’s farmers, ranchers, and rural
communities. As mentioned, we’re making sure the family farm can stay in the
family by permanently expanding Death Tax relief and protecting over 2 million
family-owned farms and ranches from devastating tax hikes. We’re locking in the
Small Business Deduction—used by 98% of farms—so it never expires, and
increasing it to 23%. Farmers will also be able to immediately expense the
equipment and tools they need to secure tomorrow’s harvest, and we’re doubling
the small business expensing cap to $2.5 million—a HUGE win for our rural
communities. In short, this is one of the biggest wins for America's farmers
and producers in decades, and it’s exactly the kind of relief Rural America has
been waiting for.
In addition to the tax cuts, the “One, Big, Beautiful Bill” also proposes to
end Medicaid reimbursements for groups such as Planned Parenthood. The Energy
and Commerce Committee’s budget proposal includes a provision that takes away
funding from any entity that is engaged in “reproductive health” and also
provides abortions. On Monday, Planned Parenthood released its annual report
and announced that abortions are up and government funding is at an all-time
high. This is one of the many reasons I introduced theDefund Planned Parenthood
Act—they’re misusing federal funding for abortions, and it’s just plain wrong.
This portion of the bill will ensure that taxpayers are funding real medical
care and no longer footing the bill for abortions.
Republicans are working through the final details, but I’m confident we’ll
deliver this historic win for hard-working Americans. As predicted, House
Democrats are resorting to lies and drama to oppose it. It will be all hands on
deck to move this America First plan forward. I look forward to doing my part
to deliver real relief to families, farmers, and small businesses across the
country.
As always, thank you for your continued trust and support. Don’t hesitate to
reach out if you have any questions or need assistance with anything.
With gratitude,
