Hey John,
Starting Monday, Orange County & Bakersfield residents are launching a 5-day fast to demand Congress and billionaires stop attacking our healthcare, education, and essential services.
Congress is voting next week on a Republican-led budget proposal that would cut funding for critical life-saving programs like health care, food assistance, education and more, all to fund tax breaks and handouts for a wealthy few. These cuts would starve working families and communities of vital resources.
If these cuts go through, real people — children with disabilities, elders who rely on Medicaid, single moms and veterans — will suffer. Some won’t survive.
Fasting is a symbolic and historical act of resistance. The 5-day fasters will go without food to send the message - Don’t Starve CA!
This is about standing together so no one has to face hunger, illness, or poverty while a wealthy few hoard more than they could ever need, and there’s a place for you in this fight:
