Backing the Blue — This Week and AlwaysImage

Dear Fellow Iowan,

his National Police Week, we pause to honor the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of law enforcement officers across the country—especially those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

I was honored to attend the Wreath Laying Ceremony at the National Law Enforcement Memorial in DC and take part in a powerful candlelight vigil honoring two fallen Iowa officers: Officer Phoukham Tran of Des Moines and Marshall Joseph Kaschmitter of Alton. We will never forget their service.

In Congress, I’m proud to be one of law enforcement’s strongest allies. This week, I voted for two important bills that passed the House with my full support:

  • H.R. 2255, the Federal Law Enforcement Officer Service Weapon Purchase Act, allows officers to retain their service weapons after retirement—saving taxpayer dollars and protecting those who protect us.
  • H.R. 2240, the Improving Law Enforcement Officer Safety and Wellness Through Data Act, strengthens reporting on violent attacks against police and helps improve mental health support and officer safety across the country.
These are common-sense, pro-police reforms that back the badge and honor the service of officers in Iowa and beyond.

Do you support efforts in Congress to strengthen protections for law enforcement officers?

I appreciate you taking the time to let me know where you stand on this issue.

Sincerely,
