John,
Instead of addressing the real challenges facing our nation, the House Oversight Subcommittee on Government Operations and Efficiency (DOGE) held a hearing on transgender participation in school sports.
This hearing wasn’t about government oversight. It wasn’t about government efficiency. It was about using transgender people’s lives as a political weapon.
Emerge alum Rep. Melanie Stansbury called out the GOP’s political stunt and forced a vote to adjourn the hearing after questioning why the committee tasked with investigating government inefficiencies was being used to attack a marginalized community. This is what true leadership looks like!
Rep. Melanie Stansbury (NM-01) - "Hearings of this subcommittee have become so divorced from reality or anything resembling oversight in the jurisdiction of this committee, it's basically turned into a political ad campaign."
As Republicans continue to attack transgender people across the country, we need more voices willing to stand up and say: enough is enough! Emerge women are on the frontlines fighting back, speaking truth to power, and protecting our most vulnerable communities.
Together, we can change the face of power and build a government that truly represents us. Will you renew your support for Emerge by making a contribution today to ensure we have the resources to help the next generation of women leaders run, win, and lead?
