| John -- Once again, corrupt politicians in Washington are putting big banks and Wall Street first. In the aftermath of the Great Recession, the Obama administration created the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau to protect American families from predatory big banks and financial firms. Since then, it’s returned nearly $12 billion to consumers’ pockets. But since day one, some have tried to dismantle this agency’s power and independence so their buddies on Wall Street can keep preying on consumers just to make an extra buck. The Supreme Court has heard arguments in a case that could destroy the CFPB’s independence and let the Trump Administration meddle with its mission to hold financial companies accountable. It’s clear the conservative majority is determined to change legislation from the bench. By the end of this month, the Supreme Court could dwarf the CFPB’s powers and hurt our ability to stand up to Wall Street and other predatory financial monsters that try to lie, cheat, and steal from the American people.
