Ohio Governor Mike DeWine joined U.S. Secretary of Labor Lori Chavez-DeRemer, Senators Bernie Moreno and Jon Husted, and Anheuser-Busch CEO Brendan Whitworth to announce the company is investing $300 million in its facilities across the U.S., including $5 million in its Columbus brewery. The company also celebrated the opening of its new Columbus Regional Excellence Center.

Lt. Governor Jim Tressel joined Secretary Chavez-DeRemer and McDonald's USA President Joe Erlinger at a McDonald's restaurant in Lewis Center to announce the company plans to hire 375,000 new workers across the U.S. this summer, including 20,000 new hires in Ohio.

Lt. Governor Tressel visited Southern State Community College for the Ohio Code Scholar Showcase. The students showed off impressive coding skills—some even built real droids for the event.

Lt. Governor Tressel visited [ [link removed] ] Sinclair Community College as part of his ongoing work to evaluate the workforce strengths and needs of regions across the state.
The Lt. Governor joined local education, business, and community leaders for a roundtable discussion, which largely focused on Sinclair being among the first schools in Ohio to offer expanded access to College Credit Plus [ [link removed] ] classes through a new Statewide Innovative Waiver.
“As we continue our work to ensure Ohio’s workforce is prepared to take advantage of the incredible opportunities we have coming our way, we keep hearing as we go across the state just how important it is to get students excited about high-demand industries as early as possible,” said Lt. Governor Tressel. “The expansion of our College Credit Plus program doesn't change what it takes for students to earn an industry-recognized credential or certificate. Rather, it opens the door for more students to get a head start in fields we need.”

Governor DeWine and First Lady Fran DeWine attended the grand opening of Coca-Cola Consolidated's new Columbus Distribution Center. The company also announced support for Dolly Parton's Imagination Library of Ohio, which will allow even more children to receive free books in the mail each month.

Held at Cincinnati State Technical and Community College, the roundtable marked the latest stop in the Lt. Governor’s ongoing series of community conversations to inform the development of Ohio’s Workforce Playbook.
“As we continue to travel the state, we’re seeing incredible opportunities emerging in every corner of Ohio, and Cincinnati State is a prime example of the work being done to prepare our workforce to fill those jobs,” said Lt. Governor Tressel. “The partnerships they’ve built with local employers and the training programs they’ve developed are exactly what we need to get more Ohioans into high-demand careers. Our Workforce Playbook will help us amplify and expand these efforts, ensuring that every region in Ohio is equipped to meet the moment.”

Governor DeWine signed House Bill 15 [ [link removed] ], sponsored by State Representative Roy Klopfenstein (R-Haviland), amends the competitive retail electric service law, modifies taxation of certain public utility property, and repeals parts of H.B. 6 of the 133rd General Assembly.

DeWine cuts ribbon at Royal Canin grand opening [ [link removed] ]
Governor DeWine celebrated [ [link removed] ] the grand opening of the new Royal Canin manufacturing facility in Lewisburg.
A division of Mars, Incorporated, Royal Canin designs precise, science-based nutrition for cats and dogs available at pet specialty retailers and veterinary practices worldwide. The new $450 million facility will create up to 270 new full-time jobs over the next five years and will produce enough dry pet food to feed 4 million pets annually.
JobsOhio supported the project with $3.5 million in grants, and the Ohio Tax Credit Authority approved a 10-year Job Creation Tax Credit for Royal Canin in 2021.
"The decision by Royal Canin and parent company Mars to locate its new facility in Ohio represents a significant vote of confidence in Ohio's business environment, our talented, highly-trained workforce, and our outstanding quality of life," said Governor DeWine. "We are pleased that Royal Canin has expanded its presence in Lewisburg, and we look forward to partnering with them as they succeed in Ohio, the Heart of it All."

Ohio Tourism Day [ [link removed] ]
Governor DeWine and Ohio Department of Development Director Lydia Mihalik helped [ [link removed] ] launch the state’s summer travel season at a record-breaking Ohio Tourism Day – drawing more than 110 exhibitors and hundreds of attendees to the Statehouse lawn in downtown Columbus.
From trails and travel guides to local businesses ready to welcome visitors, the message was clear: tourism is big business in Ohio, and it’s booming.
“The experiences you’ll have in the Heart of it All are unmatched—and so is their impact,” said Governor DeWine. “Whether you’re paddling through Hocking Hills, watching the sun dip below Lake Erie, or sitting down to a five-star dinner in Over-The-Rhine, you're a part of something much bigger. Tourism brings serious dollars into Ohio and breathes life into our communities.”
“When people explore Ohio, they start to see more than just places to visit. They see opportunity,” said Lt. Governor Jim Tressel. “Tourism helps visitors and residents see the energy in our cities, the pride in our communities, and the potential to build a life in Ohio.”

Lt. Governor Tressel delivered remarks at the Central Ohio Compact Conference.
The compact brought together education leaders from K-12 schools, colleges and universities, along with public sector partners, and employers from an 11-county region to work toward a shared goal of helping more students earn postsecondary credentials and launch successful careers.

On Thursday, the Lt. Governor stopped at Ashland County-West Holmes Career Center (ACWHCC), where he took part in a tour and roundtable discussion with local business, education, and community leaders.
“As we continue to make our workforce visits across the state, it is clear that facilities like Ashland County-West Holmes Career Center will play a big role in preparing the next generation for in-demand jobs,” said Lt. Governor Tressel. “It is so important that we are opening doors for more of our young people to get hands-on training they will need to thrive in the careers of tomorrow – especially with the increasing number of opportunities that are coming our way in Ohio.”

Lt. Governor Tressel announced [ [link removed] ] that March was a record-breaking month for Ohio’s TechCred program.
A total of 651 employers were awarded from the March TechCred application period, providing the opportunity for Ohioans to earn 8,830 tech-focused credentials. Both of these figures represent new high-water marks for a single application period in the program’s history.
“TechCred is all about our state teaming up with employers to build a future-ready workforce, and it’s clear from this record-breaking month that Ohio and its employers are all-in,” said Lt. Governor Tressel. “The program is also extremely beneficial to employees. They are gaining skills that they will be able to use for the rest of their lives as our industries continue to evolve – creating a road to prosperity for themselves and their families.”
The May TechCred application period for Ohio employers is currently open and will close on May 30, 2025, at 3:00 p.m.
