The Qatari royal family wants to “gift” Donald Trump a $400 million luxury jet, what they call a “palace in the sky.” Let’s be clear: it’s an out-in-the-open bribe.

That’s apparently the going rate if you want favorable national security treatment from the Trump Administration.

This is without a doubt the most massive corruption of our foreign policy in the history of the country.

This corruption is so indefensible that even far-right media and influencers from Murdoch media to Laura Loomer and Ben Shapiro are questioning Trump’s decision.

But it shows you how unafraid Trump currently is of Republicans in Congress. Nothing is slowing him down.

This week Donald Trump toured the Middle East and collected tributes from Gulf nations. They know the game is simple: If they want favorable treatment from the U.S., they don’t have to do anything to benefit American national security so long as they are lining the Trump family’s pockets.

What’s happening in Qatar is getting more headlines because it’s so blatant, but the deal with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is arguably worse.

The Emiratis made an investment deal worth $2 billion ALL IN TRUMP CRYPTO COIN. The whole point is to line Trump’s pockets.

And as if it couldn’t get more brazenly corrupt, the deal was announced by the son of Trump’s Special Envoy to the Middle East, who is a co-founder in the crypto venture.

So what do these countries want? Well, there are billions in pending arms sales from America to Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.

Usually, arms sales proceed without debate or vote in the Senate because there’s a very clear case for why they matter for America’s national security. Usually, we can trust that politics do not extend beyond our borders, and our commander-in-chief is acting in the best interest of America — not himself.

But arms sales to the Middle East are normally approached with a great deal of caution. We have to worry about regional tensions and wars. We worry about China, which does a lot of business in the Middle East, getting their hands on our advanced technology.

But Trump is prepared to green-light a whole bunch of arms sales to the Middle East. That’s his side of the bargain.

But the law says any member of Congress can force a full debate and vote on these arms sales. So even though I know this will interrupt normal Senate business, I am going to force us to vote. This is the chance for the American people to weigh in on this corruption. This becomes a proxy for whether my colleagues are willing to rubber stamp and turn a blind eye to the unprecedented corruption of Donald Trump.

If you are with me, add your name to demand my colleagues block any corrupt arms deals with countries bribing Donald Trump and his family personally. It is going to take a massive amount of public pressure to get accountability. Adding your voice may seem like a small action but it matters.

ADD YOUR NAME

This is a chance for Democrats and Republicans to stand up to the corruption of American foreign policy and say no. It should be an easy vote. In any prior administration, it would be.

But as I promised you, I’ll do everything I can to expose the corruption and gum up the gears of Congress to try to put an end to the constitutional crisis we’re facing.

So that’s what I’m doing. No matter who it upsets. Consequences be damned because our democracy is more important.

Every best wish,

Chris Murphy
