Hello from the State Capitol,

 

Legislative leadership and Governor Walz have reached a budget framework agreement for the 2026-2027 biennium.

 

It was important for all sides to come together and address the biggest topic before the legislature this year, which is crafting a new state budget.

 

With leadership having agreed on the broad parameters of our next budget, joint House/Senate conference committees will now work on the specifics within each area of government to meet their new budget target.

 

The overall agreement eliminates nearly half of the projected budget deficit for the next budget cycle. I was also pleased that no Minnesota family will see a tax increase under the budget framework deal.

 

I’ll have more details in the coming days.
