It was great to see everyone who came out to support our amazing artists in Texas-24! We had a wonderful evening celebrating the creativity of these talented students. A huge thank you to the art teachers who support and guide these young artists, and an extra big shoutout to those who served as judges. Congratulations to all of our 2025 Art Competition winners and thank you to all who participated. Our Grand Prize Winner was Megan Li! Our other talented winners are: Taylor Duda, Stained Glass Eyes - People’s Choice Winner Chloe Jane Lindsey, The Giver - First Runner Up Iris Liu, Wake of the Lion King - Second Runner Up Carson Bosita, Sinking Feeling - Honorable Mention Zoe Fang, Echoes of Heritage - Honorable Mention I recently had the chance to meet with members of the Health and Fitness Association representing various fitness facilities from across Texas. We discussed my support of the PHIT Act and the importance of access to physical activity for both physical and mental health for families across the country. Tuesday afternoon my Ways and Means colleagues and I met for a markup of our tax portion of the One Big, Beautiful Bill. After 18 hours, we passed the bill out of committee, delivering tax relief for American families, workers, seniors, and small businesses across the country. You can read more below in my Work of the Week. On Wednesday, with my House Republican colleagues, we passed the LEOSA Reform Act, which I was glad to support as a cosponsor. This bipartisan reform seeks to improve public safety by extending concealed carry privileges for law enforcement officers, to allow them to further keep our communities safe. It was great to see the Celanese CEO, Scott Richardson, and his team in Washington. Headquartered back home in Irving, they are a global chemical and specialty materials company. We were able to talk about my bill, the Chemical Tax Repeal Act, which will repeal excise taxes on chemical manufacturers. Always great to see Texas-24 members of the Texas Society of CPAs! We were able to catch up while they were here with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). With bipartisan support, my House colleagues and I backed the men and women in law enforcement with commonsense legislation that will improve officer wellness and safety, passing the Improving Law Enforcement Officer Safety and Wellness Through Data Act and the Federal Law Enforcement Officer Service Weapon Purchase Act. Texas-24 Work of the Week This week I voted to advance the tax portion of the One Big, Beautiful Bill out of the Ways and Means committee which is an incredible win for our working families and seniors, America’s small businesses. It will ensure our economy is built for decades of growth. Texas-24 Hometown Hero This week’s Texas-24 Hometown Hero is Assistant Police Chief Kevin Palmer.
