Oye, Friend, Telemundo and Univision, the two largest Spanish-language media outlets are failing the Spanish-speaking community in their coverage of the current crisis. Their coverage fails to cover the systematic causes of anti-Black police violence, it has focused the frame on property damage, and erases the voices of Black people. We will never prioritize property over our fellow human beings!

We can’t tolerate this! Our families deserve accurate and educational news coverage from our Spanish-language television networks. This is why we are teaming up with Mijente and other organizations to demand an end to Univision and Telemundo’s anti-Black news coverage in which they have a negative depiction of protesters.
