Hi friends,
It's Susan, Michael’s wife. I wanted to reach out about what’s driving Michael to run for governor.
I’ve known Michael for more than 30 years. In that time, I’ve learned that he has a deeply held sense of responsibility to Colorado, this country, and the world.
As a result, he’s always been tireless in his effort to address issues, fix problems, and take action that will better the lives of those around him, especially Colorado’s kids.
Because of his drive to make a difference, Michael has a history of taking on jobs with tough—some would say impossible—challenges. When our daughters were young, Michael left a job in the private sector to work for the brand-new mayor of Denver and finally fix the city’s budget crisis.
Then, he took on the job of Superintendent of the Denver Public Schools, where he led one of the most significant educational reform initiatives in America that dramatically improved outcomes for kids.
Michael never expected to become a Senator, but he knew that being in the Senate was an opportunity to make an even bigger impact on Colorado and the next generation. He has spent the last 16 years traveling every inch of Colorado—studying the challenges Colorado communities face, the forces that threaten to pull us apart, and the values that promise to bring us together.
Now, Michael is running to be the next Governor of Colorado—because he knows the solutions to our most pressing challenges will come from right here at home.
Michael believes that Colorado is where we can build the future. Working together, we can create more affordable housing across the state, make healthcare and childcare more affordable and accessible, modernize our education system, support our small businesses, and continue leading the fight against climate change.
I’ve never been more proud of Michael, and I know he will be an extraordinary Governor of our extraordinary state.
That’s why I’m reaching out to you, friend. This campaign relies on thousands of small-dollar donations to keep it moving forward. If you can, please consider chipping in $25, $15, or even $5 today. >>
