Earlier this month Start Early hosted our

23rd Annual Luncheon , where we explored how stress during pregnancy can affect a baby’s brain, why supporting mothers’ mental health matters, and how early experiences shape a child’s development.

We are especially grateful to our board chair, Mary Hasten, our Luncheon Chair, Darrel Hackett, U.S. CEO, BMO and our keynote speaker, Dr. Catherine Monk for their inspirational remarks.

Thank you to our generous sponsors, particularly our presenting sponsors, Helen Zell and Colliers, for making this program possible.

As we heard during the program, investments in prenatal and doula care and access to high-quality early learning programs not only help children thrive but also support families and lay the foundation for a child’s healthy start in life. The insights shared underscored the urgent need to strengthen the systems that support expectant mothers and their families. But we need your help.

Your support helps Start Early meet the moment, now and in the future. Unrestricted gifts from supporters like you allow us to strengthen our programs, people and infrastructure.

Simply put, strong organizations drive strong outcomes—that is why we are asking our community to act. The Head Start program is a core pillar of America’s early childhood system, as it provides quality and safe early learning programs, health care services, family supports, home visiting and developmental screenings to 800,000 children and pregnant women across the country each year.

As champions for early learning and care, we urge you to contact your Congressional leaders and encourage them to stand up and protect Head Start in the final federal budget.

If you were not able to attend or you'd like to learn more about our program,

We appreciate the generosity of our
