President Trump wants to get rid of a nearly 100-year-old tax on gun silencers and gun lobby-backed lawmakers in Congress are trying to hide this provision within their tax bill for one reason: To make gun industry executives richer.
John, we cannot allow lawmakers to put Americans at risk so they can give the gun industry a tax break and flood our communities with silencers. I’m counting on activists to speak out NOW and urge their lawmakers to oppose this deadly provision. [[link removed]]

Silencers are dangerous, John. They make mass shootings deadlier, make it harder to stop a shooting, and are used in targeted, assassination-style murders. Silencers muffle gunfire, making it difficult for people to identify and flee for safety.
What’s even scarier is that they’ve become more commonplace in the country: The amount of registered silencers increased by a staggering 84% in the last three years.
That’s why it’s so egregious that President Trump is trying to hide a gun industry tax break on silencers in his “big, beautiful” tax bill. Trump and his loyalists want this provision to fly under the radar, so they can do a favor to their gun industry pals before the American people can grasp the deadly consequences of their actions. And John, we can’t let that happen.
That’s why I’m reaching out today: I’m counting on grassroots activists to send an urgent message to lawmakers to tell them to oppose removing the silencer tax.
Add your name now and tell Congress: NO GUN INDUSTRY HANDOUT. [[link removed]]

Cutting the tax on silencers is a direct gift to gun industry executives – full stop.
Removing this tax will cost the country nearly $1.5 billion over the next decade , while Trump continues to make cuts to community violence intervention programs and Medicaid programs that support many gun violence survivors.
It’s not just about the economic cost, John. Removing this tax will make it easier for people to obtain these deadly accessories, skyrocketing the already increasing number of silencers in our communities and putting lives at risk.
I need your help to make it clear to lawmakers that we won’t accept gun lobby handouts in exchange for our lives. Please, John, will you send a message to reject this deadly provision and put constituent’s lives over gun industry executive profits? [[link removed]]
