A couple of days ago, I emailed you about taking action against the gutting of Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). If you didn't see it, you have still no doubt heard by now that the Trump administration is once again attacking the most vulnerable within our community to be stripped of our protections in health care - and during a global pandemic no less. Their cruelty really knows no bounds.
Trump’s administration enacted a rule change on Friday that removes explicit protections for transgender people in health care by excluding protections from discrimination based on gender identity. We won’t stop fighting against the inhumanity of this Administration. Not during the coronavirus pandemic, not ever. Can you chip in at least $15.57/month to help us #ProtectTransHealth?
Allowing insurance companies carte blanche to discriminate against transgender people will only end up putting more lives at risk. This rule sends the message that discrimination in health care is acceptable, even when it means patients will needlessly suffer.
