I’m reaching out with an update on what’s going on right now — and what Democrats are doing about it (and no, this is not a fundraising request).

Here’s what’s happening:

To pay for Donald Trump’s billionaire tax cuts, Republicans in Congress are scheming up a budget that includes the largest cut to health care and food assistance in American history. Once again, they’re showing that their top priority will always be their billionaire backers, not working families.

Medicaid and SNAP are critical programs that millions of Americans rely on for quality, affordable health care and to put food on the table. These are programs meant to help families during tough times — which Trump has created with his broken economy. Republicans need to wake up and realize there are consequences for their actions.

It is their vote or their seat. With your help, we’re sending that message, loud and clear.

At the DNC, we’re targeting four of the most vulnerable House Republicans — Tom Barrett (MI-07), Don Bacon (NE-02), Mike Lawler (NY-17), Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-01) — putting pressure on them to do the right thing and vote against this disastrous bill.

To do that, we’re organizing both on the ground and online. We even held a town hall in Congressman Fitzpatrick’s district last week — his constituents packed the room and boy were they angry.

This is what we’re doing at the DNC. We’re fighting back to stop bad ideas, rally against dangerous bills, and hold Republicans to account. We’re preparing to take back Congress in the midterms. We’re building a long-term Democratic success plan.

As part of that, we’ve started investing $1 million a month in each of our Democratic state parties — which get Democrats elected in your own backyard — and we launched a cutting-edge War Room to put Republicans on the defense every single day, compete in every information space, and forcefully challenge Trump.

This work isn’t always flashy — it’s hard. But all of us are up for the challenge. At the end of the day, we’ll fight tooth-and-nail for working people. With your help, that’s exactly what we’ll continue to do.
