As the world watches the ongoing crisis in Gaza and the West Bank, we cannot turn away from the critical needs of women and girls caught in the crossfire.

Nisma , a mother in Gaza, was forced to flee her home and make the harrowing journey to the Jabalia Refugee Camp in North Gaza. “It was very, very difficult. First, we suffered from extreme walking during our displacement as we fled from the occupation. I was nine months pregnant and started bleeding severely. By the time I got here, I thought I was going to die. ”

Nisma faces the daily challenge of providing for her daughters. Her youngest child suffers from malnutrition because she cannot afford basic necessities like milk and diapers. The suffering has worsened since food aid deliveries have been halted, and families like Nisma's are facing the dual threat of violence and starvation.

Pregnant women and new mothers in Gaza now spend their days hungry, worried for their families, and in fear of the next attack. With no more food deliveries and recent funding cuts severely impacting the ability of humanitarian relief groups like ours to continue reaching those who need it most with lifesaving care, their vulnerability is heightened.

Amid the ongoing devastation in Gaza, over 1 million women and girls, including approximately 150,000 pregnant women and new mothers, have been forced to flee their homes. In the West Bank, movement restrictions and curfews have further isolated communities, worsening living conditions and severely limiting or completely blocking access to critical healthcare. For the pregnant women affected, mobility is a luxury they cannot afford. Donor support enables UNFPA-supported mobile clinics to reach displaced populations with crucial sexual and reproductive health services and medicines.

The challenges are immense: pregnant women and new mothers are not only enduring relentless attacks and displacement, but also face the harsh reality of hunger and deprivation due to halted food deliveries and funding cuts that hamper our ability to provide lifesaving care. Your immediate action today can bring hope and lifesaving care to women and girls who need it most. Every gift you make ensures UNFPA can continue to deliver essential services and supplies amid the atrocities of war and devastation.

Don't wait to bring lifesaving care to vulnerable women, mothers, girls, and newborns struggling to survive in Gaza, the West Bank, and every humanitarian crisis zone.
