Breaking News from the New York Times: “President’s Third Term Talk Defies Constitution and Tests Democracy”

“The 22nd Amendment is clear: President Trump has to give up his office after his second term. But his refusal to accept that underscores how far he is willing to consider going to consolidate power.”

This is a constitutional crisis, and the only way we’ll be able to stop Donald Trump’s authoritarian power grab is if the Supreme Court intervenes.

But with a divided bench, we need to show overwhelming public support to convince them to step in.

Donald Trump is only a few months into his second term as President, and he’s already joking about running for a third!

But remember: The 22nd Amendment of the U.S. Constitution makes it crystal clear that he can’t run for President again.

We think this is an absurd attempt from Trump to upend our democratic institutions and hold onto power as long as we can.

That’s why it’s so important that the U.S. Supreme Court steps in, upholds the U.S. Constitution, and puts a stop to Trump’s tyrannical plans.
