Hi john,
It’s Friday, which means it’s time to rage with your internet abobo besties! Abortion AF is back with your weekly scoop of abortion news and action items—AKA the fuel you need to fight back and still make it to brunch. Let’s kick off the weekend with facts, fury, and a plan.
Georgia Replaces Healthcare With Horror
Gruesome doesn’t begin to cover it: Adriana Smith is brain-dead, but because she was nine weeks pregnant, the state of Georgia is keeping her alive to deliver a baby—and her family has NO say in the matter [[link removed]] . All because of the state’s abortion restrictions, which ban abortion if a fetal cardiac pole is detected, doctors are legally forced to keep her on life support until the fetus can survive. Adriana's loved ones are powerless and grieving while the state that imposed this cruelty won’t pay a cent of the hospital bills. Georgia is inflicting this barbaric torture on Adriana and her family, and we’ll NEVER STOP calling out the state for treating pregnant people like lab rats instead of human beings.
Taking Medical Advice From The Guy Who Will Drink Anything But Water
Health Secretary RFK Jr. (recently pictured swimming in literal shit stew [[link removed]] ) directed the FDA to review the regulations around the abortion pill mifepristone [[link removed]] based on a junk study by a conservative think tank.
A satirical split-screen graphic with the title “Things RFK Jr. Might Consider Bad Science” on the left and “Things RFK Jr. Might Consider Good Science” on the right. In the center is a photo of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. gesturing as he speaks. On the left side, labeled ''Bad Science,'' are images promoting abortion medication: a World Health Organization infographic about self-managed abortion as safe, effective, and autonomy-affirming; a box of mifepristone pills; and text excerpts from scientific studies that highlight the safety and feasibility of abortion pills. On the right side, labeled ''Good Science,'' are exaggerated depictions of pseudoscience or misinformation often associated with RFK Jr.'s views. These include a bottle labeled “Milk in the Raw,” a poppers bottle with an AIDS virus symbol and the equation “= AIDS,” an image of children swimming in polluted water, a crossed-out syringe symbolizing anti-vaccine rhetoric, a box of ivermectin tablets, and a mug that reads “Water Makes You Trans Happy Pride.” The graphic satirizes RFK Jr.’s rejection of scientifically supported abortion care while embracing debunked or dangerous health claims. [[link removed]]
The study, which wasn’t peer-reviewed and has been criticized as having serious methodological flaws, not only calls for outdated restrictions on the pill, but potentially removing it from the market altogether based on its results. So let us reiterate one (thousand) more time(s): ABORTION PILLS ARE SAFE!! Don’t let the anti-abortion dweebs convince you otherwise.
