As a wish mom, I know firsthand the challenges and heartache that come with watching your child fight a critical illness. Today, I want to share a little about my story and invite you to join us in supporting wish kids like my son.

My family’s experience with Make-A-Wish^® began in the consultation room at the hospital, when we learned about the high-risk treatment my son Ramiro needed for his rare blood cancer. It would put his life on pause for at least a year. My heart broke for him.

Then a social worker let us know she could refer him for a wish, and Ramiro began to feel strengthened and full of hope as he looked forward to the day his wish would come true. This hope, joy and strength is made possible through a wish, and a wish is only made possible through your financial support.

While in treatment, Ramiro would look at pictures of his upcoming surfing destination in Australia and it gave him hope and something to look forward to as he continued to fight his critical illness.

When we found out his surfing wish would be granted, there were no words to express our gratitude and amazement. Soon we were off to Australia, where Ramiro got to fulfill his lifelong wish and we got to build new, happier memories as a family.

Ramiro’s wish was beyond anything we could have ever imagined. Beyond anything we could have ever made happen ourselves. Everything we experienced together was the true power of a wish.
