Many boys are growing up without spaces where it’s okay to be vulnerable, to struggle, or to ask for help.

What would change if we gave boys permission to speak up when they’re in emotional pain?

Many boys are left to figure things out on their own, without connection, guidance, or space to say what they’re feeling.

How can we make sure boys get the support they need before they’re in crisis?

Over the years, we’ve heard from a lot of boys. Some were hurt in ways they didn’t have words for. Some didn’t even realize they could ask for help.

Again and again, we’ve seen how hard it is for boys to speak up—especially when they’ve been told they’re supposed to be strong, silent, and unaffected.

Stories like The Pitt and Adolescence don’t offer easy solutions, but they do point to something real: the cost of that silence for boys. And we all pay that cost.

In our work, we’ve seen that when boys are consistently shown that it’s okay to ask for help, more of them do.

“We are failing young men because we don’t teach them how to express their emotions. We just tell them to man up...

...these young men then feel isolated from themselves and society, and they find community and comfort in all the wrong places.”
