| Fellow American, Throughout my life, I have overcome significant obstacles to be where I am today. I was raised in poverty on a pig farm in rural Alabama. We lived in a home with no insulation or running water, including an outhouse in the back and a well on the side. Despite the odds, I was the first in my family to graduate from college, served ten years in the U.S. Military Reserves, and was subsequently accepted into Officer Candidate School. I transitioned into finance, academia, and media, becoming a frequent national television and radio commentator. In 2020, I decided to continue my service to our country and launched campaigns for Pennsylvania’s 4th district and again for Pennsylvania’s Senate seat in 2022. Running as a black conservative isn't easy, but I had no choice but to stand up to the failed Democratic policies that have failed the black community and the broader American community, time and time again. Despite limited time, resources, and an unprecedented smear campaign, I earned more than 330,000 votes, defied expectations, and surged to become a formidable candidate in a crowded field. This experience taught me that this journey is not about me. It’s about you and the beautiful people of Pennsylvania. I traveled 1,500 miles a week for 13 months, meeting my fellow Pennsylvanians. The people appreciated the authenticity of my journey, and I appreciated theirs. I heard their stories, could see their eyes, and felt their worries. I knew I was one of them, and that we are one together. As a wife and mother of two, I deeply care about this country's future.
