Mariam is just 3 years old. Her sister, Masa, is 5.

After their neighborhood's closest hospital got hit by shelling, both sisters and their mother fled their home in search of safety. Facing displacement, malnutrition, and an uncertain future, Mariam and Masa's mother turned to Project HOPE's clinic in Khan Younis for support.

"I knew about Project HOPE and brought my children for the malnutrition services provided in the clinic," their mother told us. "Unfortunately, they were diagnosed with malnutrition. Mariam is more affected than Masa and needs more efforts to recover."

Our medical team got to work immediately, providing both girls with the nutritional and medical support they needed to recover.

As a lack of clean water, dwindling supplies, and increased violence continue to compromise people's health in Gaza, our services can mean the difference between life and death for children like Mariam and Masa. But our ability to keep delivering aid is at serious risk.

Just over one month ago, government funding for Project HOPE's work in Gaza was abruptly cut. Without emergency support, all six of our clinics - including the one that treated Mariam and Masa - could be forced to shut down.

We are doing everything we can to prevent our clinics from closing. Our team is working around the clock to close the funding gap - reaching out to partners, reallocating resources, and tightening budgets. Staff are volunteering time and their own income, sourcing discounted supplies, and fighting to keep every clinic door open.
