On Tuesday night, I spoke with Bloomberg about the MAGA House Majority’s latest policy flops and what they could mean for hardworking Americans.
MAGA’s unserious tax bill
In simple terms, MAGA’s tax plan would slash $4.5 TRILLION in taxes for the ultra-ultra-wealthy and then offset the lost revenue by defunding services that hardworking Americans rely on, like Medicaid and SNAP.
Basically, Trump’s donor class will be sipping celebratory champagne at Mar-a-Lago, and the rest of us will be footing the bill.
Raising energy costs
The Inflation Reduction Act was the largest climate investment in U.S. history. It was designed with tax incentives to help Americans get cheaper or even free energy via solar panels, electric cars, or clean energy investment.
The Trump tax bill would get rid of these, guaranteeing the declining fossil fuel industry can squeeze another decade of profits out of the American people while our energy bills skyrocket.
How we can fight back
This bill is tragic for our environment. It's tragic for our economy. It’s tragic for our progress as a nation.
Whether it's exposing the GOP’s lies to journalists, standing in opposition on the House floor, or speaking to voters directly at town halls across Illinois, I’m doing everything in my power to stop this sham tax bill (and the rest of the woeful MAGA agenda).
