ADL Community Leads on Releasing Nonprofit Security Grant Program Funding

[link removed]

Today, Jewish spaces feel safer now that FEMA has restarted funding of the Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP). ADL has been at the forefront of efforts to secure record-level funding for NSGP — a vital lifeline that helps houses of worship and other at-risk nonprofits protect their communities. The 2024 National Security supplemental funding package included an additional $400 million for this program. When FEMA abruptly paused NSGP grant reimbursements, ADL mobilized immediately. Thousands of our advocates engaged with lawmakers and senior federal officials to emphasize the urgent need to restore funding. Thanks to this pressure, reimbursements have resumed. ADL will continue to
push for increased investment in one of the most tangible ways to protect and even save lives.

In 2024, ADL recorded 1,702 antisemitic incidents targeting Jewish institutions, including 627 bomb threats.

Helping to Protect NGO Leaders and Staff: ADL and National Urban League’s Community Solidarity & Safety Coalition (CSSC) recently hosted a two-part series to equip NGOs with the tools to prevent and respond to potential antisemitic or other hateful attacks against leadership and staff. Speakers included members of the ADL Center on Extremism, Security, CSSC and Legal teams, as well as representatives from the National Urban League and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency.

With strong participation from over 60 organizations representing Black, Latino, Jewish, LGBTQ+, interfaith and pro-democracy communities, the series highlighted the widespread need for actionable strategies to address today’s evolving threat landscape. The series covered topics of executive protection, facility and cyber security, crisis response and access to federal resources.

Backgrounder: American Blackshirts Movement: The American Blackshirts Movement (ABM) is a white supremacist group that formed in 2023. ADL analysts have identified, with a high degree of confidence, a member and likely leader of the group. ABM is primarily active in Texas, Florida and Georgia. The group is explicitly anti-immigrant, antisemitic and anti-LGBTQ+. ABM advocates for a modern, Christian “American fascism” across the United States. ABM espouses hardline antisemitic views and directs much of its vitriol at Jewish people and perceived “Zionist” control of American policy.

MAKING PROGRESS WITH ADL

Spotify Removes Kanye’s Hitler Song. Thanks to ADL leaders and volunteers who emailed our petition to the CEO last week, Spotify joined other music streaming services and removed Ye’s vile new Hitler song from their platform. For every hour that Spotify left that bigoted song up, they gave antisemitism a chance. A chance for lyrics that glorify Hitler to reach young and impressionable listeners across the world. A chance for Nazi sympathizers to feel affirmed. A chance for hate to take root. Our collective voices helped amplify the message to Spotify: hate-filled songs should be silenced, not streamed. We appreciate them taking the appropriate action in this moment.

When hate groups like Blood Tribe and the Goyim Defense League flew Nazi flags & incited violence, ADL showed up. We worked with law enforcement to protect the public and helped pass new laws in Nashville to keep communities safe.

History isn’t always buried. 83 boxes of Nazi documents were discovered in the Argentine Supreme Court and handed over to @museoshoa. May this dark chapter serve as a tool to educate, prevent, and strengthen our commitment against hate.

Today we were able to place a “home” sticker over the poster of Edan Alexander hanging in ADL headquarters. We pray we can post this on many more. The hostages are always on our minds and motivate our work each and every day. 58 hostages remain in captivity. #BringThemAllHome

A group of Orthodox Jewish Israeli men were physically assaulted by a group of German tourists in Budapest who were shouting violent antisemitic slurs. This was an absolutely despicable incident and we're glad to see arrests were made.
