For over a century, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has played a crucial role in safeguarding American consumers from exploitation by scams, fraud, and unfair business practices.

The FTC has helped recover billions of dollars for consumers by partnering with state enforcement agencies, including our own Consumer Protection Division in Maryland.

Now, Donald Trump is abusing the powers of the presidency in a dangerous act of presidential overreach to attack the FTC's ability to fight for consumers by unlawfully firing independent FTC commissioners who refuse to enforce his agenda.

This is a direct assault on consumer protections, and we will not remain silent.
