Three months in, Graybill best positioned to defeat GOP in AG race

John,

Our campaign just turned 3 months old, and I wanted to share some highlights of what we've accomplished so far.

Below is a brief update on the first three months of the Graybill for Montana Attorney General campaign. Since announcing in May, Graybill has established a commanding lead in fundraising, notched wins for Montanans in court, and traveled thousands of miles across the state carrying a message that’s working.

Here are some highlights:

Raised more money than any Montana Attorney General candidate in history--of either party
In his first quarter as a candidate, Graybill raised over $85,000 from individual donors. The haul is more than any other AG candidate’s first quarter in Montana history--across all election cycles and both parties.

Notched real wins in court against dark money, the federal government and IRS, and others
Graybill still serves as Governor Bullock’s Chief Legal Counsel. On behalf of his client, Graybill secured a significant, nationwide win against the Trump Administration over the issue of dark money. The suit challenged a decision by the Trump IRS to reduce transparency on dark money groups. Graybill personally argued the case in federal court. The win generated significant national attention and is a major victory in the movement to secure free and fair elections.

In addition, Graybill successfully represented his client in a suit to prevent Republican Secretary of State Corey Stapleton from violating the Montana Constitution.

Stood up for Montanans against out-of-state banks taking away our rights
As a candidate, Graybill led an initiative to stand up to an international bank attempting to make its customers sign a “get out of jail free” card for the bank.

Going the distance, putting in the hard work that Democrats need to win
Democrats in Montana have to show up. In the first three months of his campaign, Graybill traveled thousands of miles and visited over a dozen communities all across Montana, meeting face-to-face with Montana voters and listening to how they want their Attorney General to work for them.

And Graybill is organizing. He has active volunteers committed to his race in communities across Montana. Here’s one example: on the Fourth of July, most political candidates choose which community celebration to join. Graybill’s campaign had volunteers marching in parades in five communities across the state. His head start on organizing will make an important difference in the 2020 general election, where down ballot Democrats often have to play catch up in mobilizing the talents of motivated volunteers.
