Jacob
Hello from St. Paul,
Today, legislative leaders and Governor Walz announced that a budget deal framework has been reached.
Joint House/Senate conference committees will work on the specifics within each area of government. For example, I am serving on the human services conference committee and will be working to reduce the cost shifting burden to Minnesota’s county governments. I expect these hearings to take place throughout the weekend in addition to floor sessions where we will approve compromise agreements.
The budget agreement provides the largest cut to government spending in state history. It eliminates nearly half of the projected budget deficit Democrats created when they grew government by 40% and raised taxes by $10 billion two years ago, and no Minnesota family will see a tax increase.
At this time, we as Republicans are committed to achieving the very best outcome we can for Minnesotans and we are leaving no stones unturned to reduce taxes and keep government functioning.
I will be sure to keep you updated on our progress.
Steve
