Protect the Endangered Species Act
Dear John,
The Endangered Species Act (ESA) is our country’s most powerful tool against wildlife extinction, and it's under threat. The government is proposing a change that would redefine the word "harm" in the law ([link removed]).
This might sound technical, but its impact is devastating: It would effectively remove critical habitat protections, and habitat destruction is the leading cause of species extinction.
Since its creation, the Endangered Species Act has been a beacon of hope for wildlife. An astounding 99% of species listed have been saved from extinction—a testament to the law's effectiveness. If this new rule goes into effect, it would fundamentally undermine the ability of the law to work as intended and save wildlife.
