John,
This week, three critical House Committees passed their budget bills as part of congressional Republicans’ huge budget package that’s expected to get a vote next week.
But some of the harsh cuts to basic needs programs―especially Medicaid and SNAP cuts―shift some of the federal government’s Medicaid responsibilities onto the backs of people at or near the poverty line, and cut even more from SNAP than originally planned. These changes could make it harder for moderate Republicans to swallow this cruel budget.1
And today, extremists in the House are pushing to make even deeper Medicaid cuts2, making it even more important that people make their voices heard!
Through grassroots pressure and in-person lobbying, we’re applying massive pressure to Senators and Representatives who are on the fence about these cuts to critical human needs―which are meant to offset the cost of the $5.5 trillion Billionaire Tax Scam to the ultra-wealthy.
With a full House vote expected as early as next Tuesday, please rush a donation today to power our advocacy and stop this Billionaire Budget.

More than $1 trillion in cuts to Medicaid and SNAP reflect the largest cuts in the history of either program and will result in tens of millions of people losing their health care and nutrition benefits, while some of the lowest-income Medicaid recipients will pay more out of pocket.
Changes to SNAP―the most successful anti-hunger program in our country’s history, serving people of all ages in every congressional district in the country―would shift costs to states, which will ultimately result in millions of people losing critical nutrition benefits as states will be unable to meet the demand. At a time when so many in our communities are struggling with the high cost of basic needs, families with school-aged children will lose SNAP or see their benefits reduced through harsher red tape requirements.3
We need to keep the pressure on Congress to reject this Billionaire Budget that harms low-income and working families, older Americans, children, veterans, and vulnerable communities in order to hand even more tax breaks to billionaires. Rush a donation today!
