Dear MoveOn member,
Republicans in the House have spent this week ramming through their disastrous budget bill that will cut billions of dollars of funding for Medicaid and kick more than 8 million people off of health insurance in order to pay for massive tax cuts to billionaires and the ultra-rich.1
They are showing their true colors with this bill, making it clear that they do not care how many of their constituents are hurt in order to do the bidding of Donald Trump and their billionaire donors.
And we are going to make sure that the constituents in swing districts represented by these Republicans don’t forget it.
We are launching an emergency campaign to place billboards in six of the most flippable congressional districts to make sure constituents know exactly how these cuts will affect them. Can you donate $5 a month to help us get these billboards running—and keep them up for as long as it takes?
Yes, I'll chip in $5 a month. (If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately.)
No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.
Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security have long been considered the “third rail” of politics, with any support for cuts to the programs almost always signaling doom for reelection campaigns.
And Republicans, who hold the slimmest majority in the House in modern history, know it. That’s why they’re doing everything they can to hide the details of this bill—from pushing debate on Medicaid cuts into the middle of the night, to imposing ridiculous committee rules that bar Democrats from saying that Republicans are lying about Medicaid cuts while still allowing Republicans to accuse Democrats of the same thing.2
They know that these cuts are wildly unpopular, but they fear the retribution of Trump if they do not support the bill. And we’re going to use that to make sure these vulnerable Republicans lose in the midterms and Democrats win back the House, creating a real check against Trump’s lawlessness and cruelty.
We’re going to place these billboards in the districts of Representatives Gabe Evans (CO-08), Don Bacon (NE-02), Ryan Mackenzie (PA-07), Monica De La Cruz (TX-15), Jen Kiggans (VA-02), and Speaker of the House himself, Mike Johnson (LA-04). We’re finalizing the design of the billboards now, but they will all say things like “Don’t let Rep. Bacon & Trump cut health care for Nebraskans,” and they will include the actual number of Medicaid recipients in each district that will be impacted by these cuts.
We want to keep these billboards running for as long as it takes, but we can do it only with your help. Please click below to chip in $5 a month to help with our campaign.

Make no mistake, John, pressure like this is working.
On Tuesday night, Democrat John Ewing Jr. won a historic upset in the Omaha, Nebraska, mayoral race, flipping a reliably Republican seat. Omaha is the largest city within Nebraska’s 2nd District, which is currently represented by Don Bacon, one of our billboard targets.3 Those results, plus the additional pressure of our billboards, may be enough to get Bacon to break ranks.
And if he does, we need just three other Republicans to flip in order to defeat this terrible bill and protect Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security for tens of millions of people.
Republicans are trying to pass this bill as quickly as possible, so time is of the essence. Please, if you are able, click below and chip in $5 a month to help us get our billboards running.
