Hi John,
When LGBTQ+ youth are supported before they’re in crisis, you’re setting them up for success. Preventive care builds confidence, connection, and resilience long before a young person reaches a breaking point.
That’s what It Gets Better exists to do: offer LGBTQ+ youth the tools, stories, and community they need to navigate their mental health before they ever feel lost or alone.
This Mental Health Action Day, we’re proud to partner with Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and Paramount+ to amplify that message. Actors Martin Quinn (Scotty), Jess Bush (Nurse Chapel), and Melanie Scrofano (Captain Batel) recorded video messages to their younger selves—powerful reminders that “there are people in the world who want to be in your orbit” and “your wants and your needs are not burdensome.” You can watch the video on Instagram now [[link removed]].
These messages are also helping drive people to our resources—many of them created by LGBTQ+ youth for LGBTQ+ youth. Like imi [[link removed]] , our free digital mental health tool [[link removed]] filled with self-guided activities to process identity, manage emotions, and feel more grounded every day.
Explore our Get Help [[link removed]] library of resources and glossary [[link removed]] of inclusive terms, too… because mental health isn’t just about crisis response. It’s about language, visibility, and access.
When you invest in It Gets Better, you’re not just reacting to a crisis, you’re working with us to prevent one. You’re helping LGBTQ+ youth build strength before struggle, confidence before doubt, and community before isolation.
This is how we help change things for the next generation of LGBTQ+ leaders. Not with fear, but with preparation. Not with waiting, but with action.
Join us. Back the work. Support LGBTQ+ youth today. [[link removed]]
