🚨 Republicans in Congress have launched an illegitimate bid to overturn California’s limits on tailpipe emissions, threatening clean air nationwide. Renew now to help us raise $30,000 by May 31 to stop this attack on our climate and health. $5 is all is takes >> [link removed] The House of Representatives just voted to illegally overturn California’s
ability to limit vehicle tailpipe emissions, the leading source of greenhouse
gas emissions in the U.S. and a major contributor to diseases like cancer and
asthma. This is about much more than California. This is a broad attack on states’
rights and will lead to dirtier air, higher CO2 emissions, and worsening public
health across the country.  Now, Republicans are considering breaking Senate rules to vote on the
illegitimate proposal. Our movement needs to respond to this latest attack on the air that we breathe
and the rights of states to set their own environmental safeguards. Please, help us raise $30,000 by the end of this month by renewing your LCV membership for just $5 today to help us push back >> [link removed] RENEW YOUR MEMBERSHIP FOR $5 >> [link removed] The reach of this illegitimate scheme goes far beyond the borders of California.
If Republicans succeed, this move will limit all consumers’ choices for cleaner
vehicles and increase health-harming tailpipe pollution. Here’s how: 👉 California’s tailpipe pollution limits require cleaner cars than the federal
standards, and those cars are cheaper to own and operate than comparable
gasoline-only cars. 👉  With around 39 million people and roughly 396,000 miles of public roadways in California, all the major car manufacturers have worked to meet the standard California
sets, boosting the options for cleaner and more efficient vehicles for all
consumers. 👉  Meanwhile, the Trump administration has said it is going to gut the federal rules, allowing
dirtier vehicles to dominate.Bottom line, if Republicans’ push for dirty cars and trucks succeeds, it will
mean dirtier air, worse public health, and further enriching the oil executives
that profit from our higher costs at the pump. This move would break Senate rules and defy the Clean Air Act, endanger our
health, and be a catastrophe for our climate. We have to respond before the
Senate votes — and with just a slim Republican majority, we have a real shot at
stopping this attack on clean air and states’ rights in its tracks. We’re
working to mobilize nationwide — organizing protests, ensuring that every
senator has phones ringing off the hook and a full inbox, and rallying climate
champions in Congress. We need everyone who cares about clean air, public health, and the future of our planet to renew before the May 31 deadline. Even $5 makes a difference. [link removed] Together, we can protect our air and climate from these attacks. Chris Brooks
