Legislative Update
Friends,
We’re in the final stretch of session, and this week brought a major breakthrough. After many long nights and early mornings, a budget deal was finally reached late Wednesday night between the House, Senate, and the Governor’s office. It’s a significant moment, one that reflects real progress and a much-needed course correction for our state.
Budget Agreement Reached in St. Paul
Late Wednesday night, Republicans and Democrats reached a deal that moves us toward restoring balance in our budget. We are wiping out nearly half of the structural deficit created by Democrats just two years ago, when they grew government by 40% and raised taxes by $10 billion. Simply put, we’re cleaning up the mess that came from one-party control.
We achieved a long-standing goal for this session: not a single Minnesota family will see a tax increase in this budget.
While this agreement came later in the session than it should have, it’s a major step in the right direction. There’s still plenty of work ahead, and a lot can happen in these final days. I’ll keep you updated as things unfold. As always, our district and our communities are my top priority.
I’ll keep pushing for common-sense solutions that protect working families, support students, and ensure the government’s priorities are in line with everyday Minnesotans.
Celebrating National Police Week
It is National Police Week, and I want to take a moment to recognize the men and women who wear the badge and put their lives on the line to keep us safe. I know what it means to serve, and I know the challenges that come with the job. It takes grit, sacrifice, and heart. I’ve been working this session to make sure our officers have the tools and support they need to do their jobs and get home safe. This week we say thank you to our troopers, deputies, officers, and everyone serving in law enforcement. I will continue to support them through meaningful legislation that helps them do their job effectively and safely.

A New Pope
This past week, Cardinal Robert Prevost became Pope Leo XIV – the first American ever elected pope. As a Catholic, I’m hopeful his leadership brings strength, wisdom, and strong guidance for the challenges ahead.
Closing Days of Session
I will be sure to update you on the progress made over the coming days and I want to say thank you for putting your trust in me as your State Representative. My number one priority remains our district and the people back home. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns I can help with, please don’t hesitate to reach out at the contact information below.
While it may be colder than we hoped for – have a great weekend,
Bidal
