Our sources on the Hill tell us that your phone calls and emails to Congress are making a HUGE difference. |
Key legislators are fighting to pull suppressors, SBRs, SBSs, and AOWs out of the NFA! |
…And, most importantly, weak-kneed Republicans are feeling the massive grassroots backlash and are now reconsidering their betrayal of gun owners! |
But with a razor-thin Republican majority in the House, we cannot stop until we have an affirmative vote from EVERY last member. |
Even if you’ve already sent a message to your Representative, please send another to flood their inboxes. Don’t forget: your Representative works for YOU. And their top priority must be to protect your God-given rights. |
With a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to gut the NFA before us, GOA is working all hours of the day to win this fight. |

P.S. If you have a few extra moments, please also call your Representative if he or she is a Republican. The number is 202-225-3121. Urge them to include the ENTIRE Hearing Protection Act and the SHORT Act in the budget reconciliation bill. |
If your Representative is a Democrat, your time could be better spent calling one of the House leadership numbers with the same message – to get suppressors, SBRs, SBSs, and AOWs out of the AOWs. |
Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA): (202) 225-2777 House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA): (202) 225-3015 House Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-MN): (202) 225-2210 |

GOA needs your immediate help getting 2A traitors in Congress to fall in line. |
The House of Representatives will soon vote on a reconciliation bill, but the current bill – as drafted by the House Ways and Means Committee – BETRAYS gun owners. |
The bill does NOT include the full Hearing Protection Act (H.R. 404) or the SHORT Act (H.R. 2395) – two critical GOA-backed measures aimed at GUTTING the unconstitutional National Firearms Act (NFA).
It also FAILS to remove the NFA registration requirement on suppressors, choosing instead to merely lower the tax transfer tax on suppressors. On top of that, committee Republicans didn’t even lower the $200 making tax on suppressors. That’s half the tax!
Even a Democrat in the House was stunned by this GOP surrender!
And to add insult to injury, Ways and Means Committee Member David Kustoff spit in the face of every gun owner by pretending that this bill is a “WIN” for gun owners.
This isn’t even a “compromise.” It’s a complete and total SURRENDER.
But the fight is NOT over…
…The bill still has to clear two more committees before it’s ready for a full floor vote in the House.
So, we’re recruiting our multimillion-member network of gun owners like YOU to pressure Congress to include a FULL version of both the HPA and SHORT Act in the final reconciliation bill.
John: this is the closest that we have ever come to removing ANYTHING from the NFA, so your action is mission critical. And be ready – more calls and emails will be needed in the days ahead!
The Hearing Protection Act is aimed at removing suppressors from the NFA so that Americans no longer have to beg the federal government for permission just to own a piece of safety equipment. Meanwhile, the SHORT Act would remove short-barreled rifles (SBRs), short-barreled shotguns (SBSs), and Any Other Weapons (AOWs) from the NFA.
Under Joe Biden, the ATF abused these NFA categories by outlawing up to 40 million pistol-braced firearms, forcing Gun Owners of America to spend tens of thousands of dollars in legal fees to get a court injunction against the ban.
It’s easy to imagine a future President Gavin Newsom doing what Biden already did with SBRs – expanding NFA definitions to turn millions of lawful gun owners into felons overnight. |
We have the historic opportunity to stop this weaponization of the NFA.
And here’s why your action matters right now… under the rules of the House and Senate, the reconciliation bill that we are fighting to amend can NOT be filibustered in the Senate.
That means if Republicans in the House keep their promises and listen to their constituents like YOU, the Senate cannot block it. |
But to get there, backstabbing RINOs need to feel the wrath and fury of fired-up gun owners like YOU.
