Friend,
In April, House Republicans passed the so-called SAVE Act —a bill that would require voters to provide proof of citizenship, such as a birth certificate or passport, when registering to vote or updating their voter registration.
On the surface, this may sound reasonable. But in reality, it's a deeply flawed piece of legislation that could disenfranchise millions of women.
Here’s the problem: many Americans don’t have a passport. And for married women, presenting a birth certificate often doesn’t match their current legal surname. If it becomes law, millions of women could lose access to the ballot box—or face burdensome hurdles just to exercise their right to vote.
The GOP claims this bill is about stopping non-citizens from voting. But the truth is: it’s another attack on voting rights, and it targets women.
Let’s not forget: Vice President Vance has close ties to a group known as the “Theo Bros”—extremists openly advocating for a the repeal of the 19th Amendment , which gave women the right to vote. This isn’t just rhetoric. It’s a real threat to our democracy.
Thankfully, Arizona has fighters like Secretary of State Adrian Fontes and Attorney General Kris Mayes. Secretary Fontes safeguards our elections and voter registration process. Attorney General Mayes has the authority to challenge harmful and unconstitutional laws like the SAVE Act.
Both of them are up for re-election in 2026—and the stakes couldn’t be higher. In addition, Arizona’s 1st Congressional District, a key swing district right here in Maricopa County, could decide control of the U.S. House.
Donate today to help us scale our organizing program for 2026, protect voting rights, defend Secretary Fontes and AG Mayes, and drive up the vote to win back the House. [[link removed]]
