I don’t know about you, but I don’t lie awake at night thinking about the names of the bodies of water that surround the United States.
Right now, what I do think about at night is the growing importance of strong Democratic turnout and wins in state and local races happening nationwide, especially here in PA, where we are focused on organizing for our primary next week.
In addition, I think about the 50,000 children in my district who rely on federal food benefits from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) — and the Trump Administration’s proposal to rob them of those benefits.
I think about the 118,000 folks in my district — parents, children, the elderly, the disabled — who get their healthcare through Medicaid, and what could happen to them if the Trump Administration is successful in gutting that social safety net program as they’re trying to.
Yet, Congressional Republicans, in their never-ending (and I’m going to be honest, pathetic) quest to earn President Trump’s favor, have prioritized renaming the Gulf of Mexico. Petty fights like this are far from being a top priority for my constituents — the GOP’s, too.
But you and I both know why the GOP is fixated on bs issues like renaming the Gulf. It’s a distraction from the egregious budget bill they’re pushing through Congress, funding billionaire tax cuts on the backs of poor children like those in my district. In that context, I’d probably prefer to talk about renaming an ocean, too.
We’re less than a week out from Pennsylvania’s primary election, and my team and I are doing the work on the ground to make sure MAGA Republicans answer for the circus they’re bringing to Congress instead of delivering for the people.
Every single chance we get to show MAGA their tactics aren’t working is a chance we can’t miss, and next week the PA primary election is one of those moments. Can you chip in $10 (or whatever you can) to help my team make sure Democratic turnout is at an all-time high for PA Primary Day?
We need to ensure MAGA Republicans’ distraction tactics aren’t successful in PA.
Thanks,
Mary Gay
