I came to Congress to solve real problems for the people of CA-27, and despite the dysfunction coming out of the Trump administration, I’m focused on delivering meaningful results.

That’s why I just launched the Build America Caucus -- a new bipartisan group I created to cut through gridlock and focus on tangible progress in housing, infrastructure, health care and energy.

Here are just a few ‘gridlock facts’ that folks are always surprised to hear:

- It costs four times more to build affordable housing in California than market-rate housing in Texas -- and takes nearly two years longer.

- One in four infrastructure projects gets stuck in permitting paperwork for over six years before construction even begins.

- The cost of building a mile of highway has tripled in the last 50 years -- even after adjusting for inflation.

- Researchers spend nearly half their time on compliance paperwork, not innovation.

The list goes on, and the inefficiencies are literally too numerous for this email. Bureaucratic red tape is holding up the important work of rebuilding our communities. Costs are rising, and projects are delayed for years on end -- leaving our existing infrastructure to crumble.

From wildfire risk, to broadband access, to repairing highways, I won’t stand by and keep these issues on the back burner. And with your support, I’m fulfilling my promise to CA-27 and fighting for what our communities need.
