Did you see this email from Max? I wanted to make sure you didn’t miss it. We need your immediate help to ensure the President’s “skinny” budget that chips away at the programs and services relied on most by millions of older Americans is dead on arrival in Congress. That’s why, if you haven’t yet signed our urgent petition, please take a moment to do it now. |

President Trump’s recently released “skinny” budget proposal sets up devastating cuts to essential programs and services relied on by millions of Americans like you:
Flatlines funding levels for the Social Security Administration (SSA), which is already chronically underfunded, at fiscal year 2024 levels which would amount to a cut because costs rise each year
$674 million in cuts from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid, the agency responsible for administering federal health programs
$26.7 billion from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and includes the elimination of federal rental assistance — which covers tenant- and project-based rental assistance, public housing, and housing for the elderly and people with disabilities.
With so much at stake, the National Committee needs you and other seniors across the country to make your voices heard in Washington as these devastating policies advance in Congress.
While it remains to be seen what the rest of the President’s budget will include (we expect his full budget will be released in the coming weeks), the Administration’s priorities are clear: Ask older Americans to sacrifice their retirement and health security for massive tax cuts that mostly benefit the wealthiest Americans and huge corporations.
Meanwhile, Republicans in Congress are embracing President Trump’s priorities and pursuing a “big, beautiful bill” that would include an extension of the Trump-GOP tax cuts at a whopping cost of $7 trillion to be paid for by cutting programs that are vital to the well-being of seniors and our nation’s most vulnerable citizens.
As President Trump puts on full display his indifference to seniors — and his Administration’s misplaced priorities — we need to send Congress a powerful message that we will not accept any cuts to programs that help seniors meet their basic health care and financial security needs in retirement.
