Dear FAMMily,
FAMM hosted a storytelling workshop last night that was one for the books. In honor of Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, the event centered on helping FAMM members focus their advocacy storytelling around their lived experiences as parents and grown children of people in prison. Advocacy stories like these are powerful tools – truly changing hearts and minds.
Last night we heard from a mother trying desperately to help her son, who is serving a life sentence, before she passes away. We heard from a father who has worked so hard for reform that everyone in his state capitol knows him by name. Today, one member told us, “The workshop was excellent. I'm ready to get busy. My son has been over-sentenced and we are ready to fight.”

This workshop and other trainings that we hold twice-monthly on Zoom for FAMM members are part of our Empowering FAMMilies and Communities Campaign. Attendance on these trainings – which include Federal and State Policy Updates, Advocacy Trainings, and Storytelling Workshops – has skyrocketed. FAMM members have come to count on them. For every call, it’s “all hands on deck” for our small staff.
Please help us continue these trainings by making a donation today. Your contribution means that we can continue to provide members with vital skills, knowledge, and confidence to take action for their loved ones and step fully into being powerful advocates for reform. There’s not any time to waste – FAMM can’t fight this fight without them! |
