Friend,
Mental health is crucial for everyone.
But the stark reality for people with disabilities is that they go through frequent mental distress almost five times as often as people without disabilities. Among veterans, an estimated 41% are in need of mental health support. And more than half of older adults don’t have access to treatment for their diagnosed mental illness.
This Mental Health Awareness Month, we’ve set a goal to raise $10,000 by midnight on May 27 to provide vital support to people at all ages and stages of life. And because this is so important, a generous donor has agreed to MATCH all donations up to $10,000, meaning you can give $25 or more NOW and have it DOUBLED to help us address the mental health challenges that so many in our communities face.
Every year during Mental Health Awareness Month, we highlight that mental health issues are common and that the right diagnosis and support can have life-changing benefits. But our work to promote mental health never stops.
Our free and confidential mental health screening tool is available 24/7 to assess mental well-being and illustrate how our support groups, crisis assistance, and respite programs can provide needed aid. We also help parents create a nurturing and stable environment at home and offer peer groups and camps to teach kids behavioral skills and coping strategies. We help veterans adjust to civilian life. Even ES Gaming, our online gaming community, exists in part to address isolation and build community for gamers.
But, friend, all of our efforts to promote mental health and forge a path to a more open and welcoming future depend on the generosity of supporters like you. This Mental Health Awareness Month, I’m personally asking you to make a gift that will go TWICE AS FAR to support our work for children and adults with disabilities, older adults, and veterans.
Please, make a gift of $25 or more now that will be DOUBLED to help us continue promoting mental health and transforming the lives of 1.5 million people every year through our specialized programs and services.
Thank you for all you do to help us support the mental and physical well-being of so many.
