Hey,
Pride looks different this year. We can't physically march through the streets of Boston like usual. (And I know we were planning to be out there in full force today!) But still: We stand in strength and solidarity together just as powerfully as ever before.
We stand for justice -- together -- at a moment when justice is on the line.
We can't separate this nation's enduring struggle against racism and white supremacy from its fight for LGBTQIA+ rights. Pride originally stemmed from the Stonewall riots --51 years ago --and from the trans women of color and the queer community who took to the frontlines to fight for a country where they could simply be who they are.
Their resistance spun into hours, days - years. It lives on in our fight today.
So today, and every day, we stand in solidarity with the LGBTQIA+ community. We lock arms with the Black, Queer, and Trans lives that our country has consistently failed to protect.
And we march forward. Together.
Towards something better.
Happy Pride,
-- Joe
