Candidates to Consider:
There will be two statewide offices on the ballot in June - the office of Lieutenant Governor and the office of the Attorney General. Gratefully, our candidate for Governor, Abigail Spanberger, did not sustain any opposition to her nomination, so she is able to avoid the expense of a primary election.
Lieutenant Governor: The Lieutenant Governor’s race has six candidates, each with their own unique set of assets. I have not made an endorsement in this race. However, the Democratic Party of Virginia’s website provides an overview of candidates, which you may find helpful in making a decision. You can access this overview here.
Attorney General: I have endorsed Jay Jones in the Democratic primary for Attorney General of Virginia. Jay is the best candidate to defeat Republican extremism at the polls this November. He is also the best leader to protect Virginians' freedoms and safety. I know we can count on Jay to defend our reproductive rights, keep Virginian's safe from gun violence, and improve the well-being of all Virginia children.
Arlington County Board: Your ballot will also have a Democratic primary election for a member of the Arlington County Board. I’m proud to endorse incumbent Takis Karantonis, who has a proven record of embodying Arlington’s progressive values and represents us well on the County Board.
House of Delegates: If you reside in the 1st House of Delegates District, your ballot will also have primary choices for your member of the House of Delegates. I have endorsed incumbent Patrick Hope. If you reside in the 2nd or 3rd House Districts, the Democratic nominee for your Delegate seat has already been decided. They are incumbents Adele McClure and Alfonso Lopez, respectively.
The policies being promoted by the Trump Administration are placing our schools, communities, businesses and safety at risk. This makes state and local elections more important than ever. Please remember to vote.
