Did you know that cataracts are the leading cause of blindness worldwide? While many people associate them with aging, cataracts can affect anyone, including children. In fact, around 40,000 children are born each year with cataracts, often due to infections during pregnancy, genetic conditions, or other complications.
Despite being easily treatable—with 3.7 million cataract surgeries performed each year in the United States alone, millions around the world still lose their sight simply because they can’t access safe, affordable surgery.
