John, Our second #CoffeeWithCori was a MAJOR success. During this global movement for black lives, it was a sobering reminder of the magnified challenges queer & trans folks face in our communities. It was also an opportunity for us to consider how allyship can turn into true leadership, and what a better future could look like.
Though I may be the one running for Congress, I still learned a lot—we all did. This #CoffeeWithCori only reaffirmed my commitment to this work, including my platform priorities, which I encourage you to read here.
Yesterday was also the four-year anniversary of the massacre at the PULSE nightclub in Orlando, Florida. We cannot forget that the people who died that night were largely queer and trans people of color—the very same people who organize within mass
movements like the one we’re in now, but are often left out of the narrative. We honor their lives, and I hope you’ll join me in committing to truly considering and centering black, queer, and trans voices in all the work we do.
 Here’s a powerful moment we shared:
Maxi Glamour: “[These leaders] are doing nothing… What we need to do is hold people accountable. We need to vote people in who aren’t just gonna say #BlackTransLivesMatter, they’ll actually show the deeds and what they’re going to do.”
Cori: “If I was your Congressperson right now, what is it that you all would love to see me doing? So that you all would feel represented?”
Charles: “That’s what I love about you, Cori. You gotta pull up. Pull up into the community and ask them. That’s all it is. And that’s why it’s so important to have that representation.”
I told the folks on our call, plain and simple, when I walk into the halls of Congress, I am only accountable to you. “There’s no point in me going to books to figure out what our people need if I can just talk
