When Donald Trump signed an unlawful executive order declaring a “national
energy emergency” to fast-track new fossil fuel projects at the risk of
our health and environment, California’s Attorney General took action.

Rob is co-leading a coalition of attorneys general who filed a lawsuit to
challenge this illegal order in court and push back against this dangerous
executive overreach.

The facts don’t lie: the United States is producing more energy than ever.
Despite this, Trump is trying to bypass important environmental and health
guardrails to expedite permits for non-emergency fossil fuel projects,
while excluding solar and wind power.

Emergency powers are meant for real disasters – not for frivolous or
partisan matters. Congress even passed the National Emergencies Act to
stop presidents from doing exactly this, but as usual, Trump thinks he is
above the law.

This isn’t about solving a problem or addressing a real emergency. It’s
about the President skirting the rules that protect our air, water, and
communities, all for the benefit of his Big Oil and Gas buddies.

We won’t let Trump undo years of progress made on protecting our
environment and addressing the climate crisis by breaking the law and
misusing his power — not on Rob’s watch.
