Donald Trump and Republicans just came out with their tax scam — and it’s
a direct attack on New Mexicans.
Trump is trying to pay for tax breaks for the wealthy on the backs of New
Mexico’s working families, businesses, and our state’s economy. It’s
shameful.
From slashing Medicaid in favor of billionaire tax cuts and threatening
wildfire funding during one of our driest seasons in years, to dealing a
devastating blow to industries leading the clean energy boom in our state.
When I served as Interior Secretary, I focused on creating jobs in clean
energy and lowering energy costs for New Mexicans. We harnessed the wind
and sun to generate power and opportunity. These industries brought good
jobs to our communities and affordable electricity to our homes.

Now, Trump wants to stop that progress. His tax scheme will make
electricity more expensive and kill local jobs. To make billionaires even
richer.
