John, have you heard about the House GOP’s newest priority?

Speaker Mike Johnson and the House GOP brought a bill to the House floor that would permanently change the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the “Gulf of America.”

And listen, John, I’m not fired up because I care deeply about the name of that body of water. I’m fired up because this is not what you sent me to Congress to do.

I don’t want to vote on bills related to Donald Trump’s pet projects. I want to vote on bills that will lower costs for working families, tackle inflation, and ensure seniors can refill their prescriptions without breaking the bank.

That’s the work that you elected me, and all of my colleagues in the House, to do. So why won’t the Republican Majority in Congress let us do it?

House Democrats are ready to get to work. But it’s clear as long as Republicans have the Majority and Mike Johnson is Speaker of the House, we won’t be able to deliver the critical results Americans need.
