Governor Walz Orders Flags at Half-Staff in Honor of Peace Officers Memorial Day

Governor Tim Walz has ordered all United States and Minnesota flags to be flown at half-staff at all state buildings in the State of Minnesota, from sunrise until sunset on Thursday, May 15, 2025, in honor of peace officers who have been killed or injured in the line of duty. Governor Walz has proclaimed May 15, 2025, as Peace Officers Memorial Day and May 11-17, 2025, as Police Week in the State of Minnesota.

“Today we honor the peace officers who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our communities, and we thank the 10,000 Minnesota officers who serve in over 400 law enforcement agencies across the state,” said Governor Walz. “Peace officers exemplify resilience, courage, and bravery, and we lower our flags in recognition of their unwavering dedication and sacrifice.”

Individuals, businesses, and other organizations are also encouraged to join in lowering their flags.
