John, Right now in Washington some politicians are pushing for massive cuts to Medicaid in their effort to slash federal spending. They’ll call it “balancing the budget” or “reducing the deficit,” but the truth is that their budget will increase the deficit while taking healthcare away from Americans. Here in Kentucky, we know exactly what it would mean — closed hospitals, lost jobs, and families without the care they need. This isn’t about politics; it’s about people. And it’s about Kentucky. Nearly 1.4 million Kentuckians rely on Medicaid. That’s nearly a third of our state, including half of our children. These are our neighbors, our co-workers, our parents and grandparents. These are kids who need speech therapy after school. Families managing the challenges of caring for a child with special needs. Seniors in rural counties who count on their local hospital to be there in an emergency. In too many places across Kentucky, that hospital isn’t just a building where people get care — it’s the lifeline of the entire community. When you cut Medicaid, you aren’t just taking healthcare away from folks — you’re taking away paychecks, shuttering hospitals, and forcing families to drive hours just to see a doctor. And in small towns, that can mean the difference between life and death. When I travel across our Commonwealth I meet people whose lives have been changed, even saved, by Medicaid. Republicans in Congress are refusing to acknowledge what these cuts would mean for the American people. That’s why I’m making sure to speak up about the impact these cuts would have. Because let’s be honest: gutting Medicaid isn’t just reckless — it’s an attack on rural America. I’m asking you to speak up, too. Will you add your name to my petition and stand with me by telling Congress: hands off Kentucky’s Medicaid? >> Thanks for using your voice, Andy
