But Americans need a safe way to vote in November, so states have begun exploring online voting instead. The problem? According to the Department of Homeland Security, voting over the internet is “high-risk” -- even when everything’s done right.
In fact, The New York Times reports that online voter systems “were among the chief targets of Russian hackers in 2016.”
